Meet Heather

I never started my business with dreams of it becoming what it is today. I just pursued what I loved by picking up a camera in 2009 & paid attention to how my passion and my God given talents could be intertwined. The more my entrepreneurial story evolves, the more confident I am that every season, every journey and every up and down, is purposeful and oh so powerful.

Little 'ol me

I'm Heather, the military wife and mom to 4 young kiddos behind Heather Nicole Photography.

I've been capturing memories for others since 2009 when I first got my hands on a DSLR and would photograph military ceremonies for the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets. I've since branched out to adore capturing the organic emotion and beautiful events that make up a life and a family like weddings, job ceremonies and retirements, family portraits, children, events, and any other beautiful sessions we can dream up.

My style

is bright, fun, and true to capturing the personalities of the unique people I am photographing. I try to stay away from strict posing and "cheese" faces and gravitate towards catching sweet looks when everyone thinks the photographer isn't looking.

After becoming a mom I realized that it wasn't the perfectly posed Christmas photos I craved to have of my kids to share with our family more than 18+ hours from us that are missing my kid's growing up, but the simple moments of them finding a lady bug or cuddling mommy after they skinned their knee and because of that I enjoy sneaking in the shots of bits of time you didn't even know you wanted captured.

This is my goal.

To provide for families. A raw capturing of the moments that make up your lifetime - proposals, engagements, weddings, all the way to family photos, pregnancies and babies, military milestones, sacramental memories like a child's baptism or first Holy Communion - I want to freeze those moments in time so that you don't have to witness those special times from behind the lens of your phone but still have precious memories to look back on for many years to come.

"I can't recommend Heather enough.
My husband and I were looking for some nice photos together because we've never taken any before. We also wanted "family" photos with our fur baby. Heather had no issues with us bringing our dog, and at one point she even juggled a camera and the leash/dog to take some couples photos of just us two. Above and beyond.
Truly amazing work and I will cherish these photos.
We had only met her seconds before the shoot, and she made us feel so comfortable throughout."
